What We Do
Every One Can Play Ball, Inc. is a nonprofit organization which buddies high school athletes with physically and intellectually challenged special needs participants for a one day skills building baseball camp. The goals of this program are to promote acceptance and inclusion for all members of society, eliminate the bullying and exclusion of those least able to defend themselves, improve the health and fitness of those with disabilities, and provide young mentors an outlet to give back to their community while developing mentoring skills.
Providing opportunities for persons with special needs to experience health, fitness, and acceptance through sports mentoring and skills programming.
Every One Can Play Ball, Inc. programming provide sport specific clinics that pair mentoring high school student athletes and community volunteers as buddies for people with physical impairments and/or intellectual challenges to enable the special needs participants to build skills for success in sports, health, fitness, and education. The program encourages new "participant" special needs athletes to try a sport or fitness activity, and provides seasoned "volunteers" athletes the opportunity to further develop their skills in that sport thus giving each participant and volunteer athlete continued opportunities to develop a love of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. The participants demonstrate confidence and courage as the experience success with the assistance, tutelage, and encouragement from their buddies. Everyone involved has the opportunity to have fun and make new friends while demonstrating to peers, families, and the community that with understanding and support, we can embrace similarities rather than differences and given the opportunity - Everyone Can Play Ball!
Through the unique experience student athletes, youth volunteers, and community volunteers are equipped with the tools to develop leadership, communication and mentoring skills, share their sports knowledge and techniques, and empower diverse groups of young people to create more inclusive communities where all people are treated with respect and understanding. The program strives to instill the ideas of good sportsmanship, honesty, courage, loyalty, and respect in every person involved in the program.
